Well it is here and I have a new love!! As I said in my earlier update Mike at Dialled was sending me a factory team bike... well it arrived, but it was not a factory team bike! It was nothing less than THE Ti Dialled Cruiser! I could not believe my eyes and was sooooo excited to get on it and ride. We got it at 2pm so I sent Dom straight out to the garage to put it all together and it was done by 3pm. By 330 I was down a local play track testing it out quickly before it was too dark and I could not believe how good it was to ride! (There is a video on my new video page but the link to it is here.) The next morning was my 530am uphill sprints and I have never been excited to do these before! I was awake before my alarm and jumped out of bed and rushed out to go test the new stead in a sprints situation; and I was not let down!
My next test ride was Manchester indoor BMX track for gate practice 8-10 on a Friday. Now those of you who know me, know that 1. I hate the indoor and 2. I am in bed by 9 and hardly capable of anything physical past 8 so I really struggle and don't enjoy these late sessions but it is one of the riding sessions I can get at the moment so I guess it is all good! The thought of trying my new bike spurred me on and after a few warm up laps of getting used to how light the bike is I was flying! I have never felt so good or even enjoyed the indoor until now. I was shattered but buzzing on my long drive home!
I have had a few local races over the last few weeks. Bulwell winter series and the Peterborough round of the EA winter series. Bulwell was a great day and some fun racing. Not a massive turn out in Cruiser (all males!) but enough to race, and I managed to get 4th which I was pleased with. I made quite a few silly mistakes though and was always in 3rd into the second corner but slowed down for the big double and lost the place there. The big double has now gone onto my winter 'to do list'! Peterborough again was a great day racing with 13 in the cruiser category. I was a little concerned when I saw the list that I would not do so well, but managed to get 2nd, 3rd, 3rd and 5th in the motos and just scraped a 4th in the final. I am chuffed to bits with these results as there were some really fast men in those races! (The video is on my video page but can be found here too!)
I managed to share the 9bar love today at the race too which was good! The guy parked next to me was complaining of being too tired for the final so I pulled out a pumpkin 9bar and told him this would sort him out! After the final he said "Thanks for the bar, it tasted great but did not help my legs, I was still too tired." I looked at him a little confused as we all know 9bars give you the energy you need and he then replied "well I am 67 though so what did I expect!!" So it is still official that 9bars are a great source of energy! They have them on offer at the moment with a 6 pack for £3 - absolute bargain! Just need to go to http://www.9bar.com/ and enter the code 6PACK£3 at checkout. (I recommend the new fruit bars they are yummy!)
This time of year is really hard to keep your diet on track but Rhys at My whey (see sponsor section) has really helped me out over the last few weeks with some fantastic recipes and a very detailed food plan to help keep me going for my training and racing. It is going to be a bit hit and miss over the Christmas and New Year weeks but I am looking forward to completing it fully in the new year. You can have a go at a great protein flapjack recipe here if you want!
Speaking of new year, only one more week at school then I get a break! LOTS OF RIDING!!! Going to Manchester the first day of the break to ride the outdoor track for 2 hours and then the indoor for 2 hours straight after, got a session at Milton Keynes booked in on the way down to my Mums and a session at Ipswich whilst staying there too. On the way home we are making a detour to try out the Cyclo park in Kent as not been there yet so am looking forward to that. Dom and I are going to take the road bikes down to my Mums as well to hopefully get out on a Christmas morning road ride before we eat and drink far too much!
Time to go get some rest. I wish you all a great Christmas and Happy New Year. Will fill you in with all my riding tales after the new year!
Have a good one!
