Well it is all finished now!
That is it. All done! My quest for a World Ranking has been completed. A whole years worth of preparations for a few hours of racing! My quest was a success in that I did get a World Ranking - Number 6, but it was not the ranking I was hoping for!!
Racing was hard all day where I had 3 of the fastest riders in my category in my qualification races which meant I had to work really hard to get through to the quarter finals knock out. My quarters went ok coming second, but my semi final knockout draw was awful! I had so many fast riders in there and I just scraped through to the final. Because of this I had last gate pick which meant I was not in a very good position to get the best line down the first straight. My plan was to get a good gate and move over, and as all good plans and all that it did not work!! I got squeezed going into the first jump which meant I lost all my speed and was in 8th by the first corner. I got past the 2 French girls to 6th, but by the time I had cranked my speed back up and caught up 5th and 4th there was not enough track left to make a move.
It feels a little bitter sweet to be honest. I did get a World Ranking as I wanted, but I also knew I could have done loads better. Never mind, that is racing I guess!!
I had a fantastic week and the track was brilliant, so I guess I should take away the positives as I get myself ready for the British Championships in a few weeks time.
I have made a video edit of the week which you can see below. I have also put up a slideshow of pictures.
Thanks for following my pursuit over the year and I hope you have enjoyed reading my posts! I can't race the Worlds next year in Belgium so fingers crossed I can afford to go to Columbia in 2016 - if so - got to write all this again but hopefully with a better result!
Over and out,
Kim
