Well the latest update and most likely the last before the World Championships in 2 weeks time!
I can't believe that I am writing about it being 2 weeks away. It does not seem 2 minutes since I started my website talking about winter training!! What a long journey it has been though when you think of my progress and barriers that I have faced.
My progress this season has been massive. The first national BMX race I just could not get any where near Louise Abbott, and each race I have got closer and closer and this weekend at Derby we had proper side by side racing with Louise taking the win on the Saturday and me on the Sunday. It was such good racing and really fun!
I am feeling strong going into the Worlds. I had a "to do" list of certain jumps on different tracks that I have never managed to do which I had to tick off before I left and last week I made a mission to tick them all off and I did. No photo evidence though as was at the tracks on my own so will have to get that for my post Worlds update!!
My sprints are feeling strong and I have been having a real focus on this training over the last 2 weeks, making sure I do something every day. It has really paid off as my pedal stroke feels stronger than ever and my acceleration too. Lets hope it all comes together when I get to Rotterdam and I don't go to pieces!
I have collected my GB jersey which you can hopefully see next to this writing, entry list will be published end of the week so I know who I am racing, hotel and ferry is sorted and I am all ready to go!
I do need to say though that this would all not be possible without the support of my school, Newbold Community School in Chesterfield. The school summer holidays do not start until Thu 24 July so they have very kindly let me have the last 3 days of term off to go out to Rotterdam to compete and I am really grateful for their support.
It is also down to 9bar (http://www.9bar.com/) as well that I can get out to the Worlds as again without their support I would not be getting on that ferry in 2 weeks and can't wait to take their yummy bars to feed me while I am there! And of course without my bike from Mike at Dialled (http://www.dialledbikes.com/Dialled_Bikes/Home.html) I would be a little stuck as I don't think I would keep up with the race running! I am going to try really hard for all you guys who have supported me throughout the year and bring back the best position possible and do you all proud! Some pictures are below from Derby Nationals this weekend for you to enjoy!
See you on the other side of storm as they say - next update - post World Championships filling you in on whether my quest for a World ranking worked or not!!
