And they think it is all over!
Well what a few weeks!
2 weeks ago I found a crack in my frame and needed to get a replacement. Not so easy for several reasons. First - cost, money I don't have and second - size, there were subtle difference as my frame is old that may affect its feel. So I had a dilemma on my hands! That is where the lovely Mike Wong stepped in from Dialled bikes. (http://www.dialledbikes.com/Dialled_Bikes/Home.html) Mike has very kindly offered to give me an old 2013 team frame from his factory team bikes team. I can't wait for it to arrive and to get to a track with it! So excited that I am going to be racing on a factory team bike this year! (http://www.factoryteambikes.com/Factory_Team_Bikes/Home.html) |
So my dilemma was over! Well, that one was anyway! I have had a knee problem for the last 3 years and it goes in and out of stages from not bothering me to I can't walk. When I have been doing BMX strength training it always seems to flare up to the can't even walk stage, but I had managed 4 weeks of training so far with no pain and I was feeling good. I made a big mistake though in last week telling the Dr that it has been fine and not been causing me any problems- no prizes for guessing what happened next! The training session the following day (no changes made at all) and I could not walk. So game over for my training!
Apparently it is quadriceps tendonitis (you can read about it here) that seems to have a particular dislike to squatting and heavy weight work in your legs... pretty much my whole training regime for BMX! So as I said before - game over for gym work! I was gutted as had made so much progress over the last 4 weeks, but my biggest concern was can I ride my bike pain free. So off I went to a track, and thank goodness for that I can still ride a bike! So all my training for now is sprints on the bike and track work. (Easier said than done when it is dark most of the day at the moment and freezing and wet!)
